Aanii,
Miigwech for registering at Kenjgewin Teg.
You’ll notice that you received an email referring to your Kenjgewin Teg student email account creation. The email contains your login information for your Kenjgewin Teg Microsoft 365 account, including your @ktstudent.ca email address and your temporary password.
Logging in to your Microsoft 365 account for the first time
Step 1: Go to login.microsoftonline.com to sign in.
Step 2: Enter your @ktstudent.ca email address and click the blue “Next” button.
Step 3: You will then be asked for your temporary password. Enter the temporary password as provided in your introductory email (or password reset email) and click the blue “Sign In” button.
*Tip 1* Copy your email address and password and paste them into the spaces provided (if you do this, watch for an extra spacebar at the end of the copy & paste).
*Tip 2* If you have another Microsoft email account, you might have to choose “Sign in with a different account” after clicking on your initials in the top right corner of your screen.
Step 4: During your first time logging in, you will be asked to change your password. Enter the temporary password (from the introductory email or password reset email) into the “Current password” field, then enter your new password into the “New password” and “Confirm password” fields. Your new password must be 10 characters or more with at least 1 upper-case letter, at least 1 lower-case letter, and at least 1 number or special symbol. You cannot include your first or last name in your new password. Click “Sign in”. After you change your password, feel free to have your browser remember your password (as long as you’re not on a shared device) as it will make accessing your account easier in the future.
Step 5A: After signing in, you will be prompted to provide more information (this is for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and if you need to reset your own password in the future). Choose “Next”.
Step 5B: You can choose how you would like to keep your account secure. The preferred method is installing the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile phone from your device’s App Store. Install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, and click Next on the setup screen. Follow the steps on the screen (and below screenshots) until you have completed authentication. If you cannot use this method, please skip to step 5C.
Step 5C: If you’d like to set up a different method of authentication, click “I want to set up a different method”.
Step 5D: Choose a method you would like to use. You may choose email, phone, or security questions. For example, if you choose “phone” and then”text a code,” Microsoft will send an SMS message containing a 6-digit code to verify your device. You will be prompted to enter that code upon logging in to your Microsoft 365 account. If you do not have a mobile device to access your personal email or text messages, you must use the “Security Questions” method.
Step 6: When you have successfully logged in, you will arrive at your Microsoft 365 Home screen, as shown below. You can open any app by clicking on the icon. If the app you are looking for cannot be found on this list, click the “All Apps” arrow to pull up a complete list.
You may also access your apps by clicking on the App Launcher in the top left corner of your screen, as circled in red below.
*Optional* If you would like to install Microsoft Office, click the box with “Install apps” in the top right corner and follow the directions that the site will provide.
*To access Outlook email, click on the Outlook icon. Check your email daily for messages from your instructors.
Step 7: If you’re using a shared computer, be sure to “Sign out” at the end of your session by clicking on your name in the top-right corner.
Accessing Kendan
Step 1: To access your online courses in Kendan, click the App Launcher in the top left corner of your Microsoft 365 homepage.
Step 2: Click on “All Apps”. If you don’t see Kendan in the list, click on “All apps” within the webpage, Kendan will be on the expanded list, near the very bottom. Click on the “Kendan” icon.
Step 3: Click on the waffle icon at the top of the Kendan homepage. You will see a list of your courses. Click on the title of the course you would like to access.
Optional: Click on the Discover tool on the blue navbar (top menu) to access resources to support your learning journey, including the Aambe! Kendan Practice Course.
