About the Program:
If you’re passionate about helping others and creating positive change, the Social Service Worker program offers an Indigenous-centered approach to social work education. Learners gain the knowledge and skills to support individuals and communities through themes of social justice, empowerment, and ethics. Grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, the program emphasizes personal growth, community development, communication, and counselling skills—preparing you for a rewarding career in human services.

Field Placement:

This program includes field placement and volunteer opportunities that will give you hands-on experience. Over the course of your program, you will complete a 420-hour field placement that focuses on practicing on working within an interdisciplinary team to provide client service and support. These real-world experiences are mandatory and are designed to allow you to integrate classroom teachings with professional practice.

Through your placements, you will gain valuable experience that will help you understand the diverse roles, settings, and responsibilities of a Social Service Worker.

Admission Requirements:
For graduates of the new curriculum (OSS): Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 credits) or equivalent, or mature student status, including: Any Grade 12 English (C) or (U)

Other:
Graduates from this program will be eligible to register with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
